the more I see...
The more I see of Obama, the more I like him.
Today the Washington Post carried an article regarding Obama's response to McCain and Bush insinuating that the Democratic candidate would appease terrorists. Since I am (no surprise) an Obama supporter, I tend to follow the links to speeches, videos, etc. One of the first links referenced a transcript to the speech given in response to this accusation. Source is always better than editorial, so go take a look.
Obama Responds to Bush's Attack
The best stuff (IMO) is past the midpoint where he begins to speak of fuel costs, alternative fuel technologies and efficiency, power distribution grids, foreign trade and outsourcing, repurposing manufacturing, conservation easements, tuition credits for community service... I'll stop there. Please, though, take a look at the transcript in the above link, go watch some videos of his campaign. It may or may not change your vote, but it will almost certainly raise your interest in this Presidential Race.
If he could even make a fraction of what he believes happen for us, it really be the change he wants us to believe in.
I'm new to politics. The few who know me in real life, or have been reading this blog since the beginning, know that I was raised in a religion that didn't allow its members to get involved in politics on any level. My opinions on the state of this country, the major political parties, and political candidates, have largely been formed in only the last 8 years or so.
I believe it is irresponsible for anyone who lives in this country to stand by and let everyone else make their political decisions for them.
The Oregon primary is just around the corner. We are the only State that is exclusively vote-by-mail. Washington is nearly all postal voting also. Even though this means that our local campaigns save a tremendous amount of money, we tend not to have the fire of a one-day primary like the other States.
If you're in Oregon or Washington, and your ballot is still sitting on your desk, please go fill it out and send it in.
Everyone else, please decide to vote. Learn who or what you are voting for or against, and have your say.
