Reading is good for the eternal soul
I'm having such a good time reading voraciously for the RIP III reading challenge, that I have no intention of getting bogged down in formal book reviews. Short and sweet, that's my M.O. for these reviews.
I've been reading every chance I get, and started with Strange Roads, by Peter S. Beagle. This is a chapbook of short stories inspired by the art of Lisa Snellings-Clark. I feel like Lisa's art is one of the best-kept secrets in my world.
Beagle's stories are like little mini-treasures, particularly the 3rd story: Uncle Chaim and Aunt Rifke and the Angel. Uncle Chaim must paint an Angel. This pursuit covers a significant portion of young David's childhood and as a result, he makes a life-altering offer. Read it!
Next I read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. How can you miss for a spooky story?!! Victor Frankenstein is the self-absorbed creator of the "Monster." His selfishness knows no bounds, and this is the real generation of the monster that his creation becomes. Soon, I will get to Dean Koontz' Frankenstein, which, I hope, is the story of what happened after the Monster was last seen on the ice.
Oh yeah, in the middle, I finally read Marvel's 1602 by Neil Gaiman. It was supercool, and made me want to go out and buy a whole bunch of comics, which I suspect is what Marvel wants to happen too. Ha! (I restrained myself though... for now.)
Next up: The Graveyard Book.
Spook wants me to get to it with the reviews, damn it.
This has been a RIP Challenge.

6 bottles washed up on the shore:
Poppets!
Again your photographic skills have me stunned.
Aw, sean you made my day. :)
Perfect mini-reviews! I have a copy of Strange Roads that I am way overdue on reading. Thanks to your enthusiasm I am going to start on it tonight!
Love your pics by the way, especially the faceless poppet...ooo, creepy!!!
Put it this way. I am compelled to buy both the figuirines and the books through the composition.
Spook is so cute!
